Parish Emergency Plans
It is a requirement of the County Council that each parish has a set of resilience plans that will be activated in the event of an emergency arising within the parish. Fortunately the parish does not suffer many emergencies, but recently we have had flooded roads and a large field fire in 2022. Major emergencies will be the responsibility of the appropriate emergency services such as fire and rescue, ambulance or police. The main role of the parish will be to inform parishioners, aid the emergency services with local information (sources of large useful machinery, water etc.,), open the village hall or church hall as a respite centre (if required).
Information
In the event of an emergency, Jon Lewis (0777 3433448) or Lynn Ballard (07811 178966) will contact or post messages to the following:
Telephone Tree Responders
The responders are volunteers who live in each of the different hamlets of the parish, i.e. probably one of your neighbours. We will contact them by using a specific parish emergency message system and inform them of the emergency and it’s location. They will contact their neighbours, especially those who would be most affected by the emergency or may require assistance.
What’s App Group
The same message will be sent to the telephone tree responders plus local farmers. The local farmers are informed because of the number of employees and also possible requirement by the emergency services for water bowsers, diggers or farm machinery.
Email Group
As above. Plus Lynn will email everyone on her Parish email list.
Message will go on the Chignal and Mashbury Site.
Chelmsford Council
Message to the emergency centre to inform and co-ordinate plans
Hopefully by using all these different systems we can quickly inform Chignal parishioners of emergencies, their location and what is happening.
